February 2022 round-up

The last day of February already! Always catches me by surprise this super-short month. 😄

I’m relieved to say life has more or less returned to normal this month – almost no family illness, fewer disruptions at the kids’ school and a general feeling of things being back under control.

Running-wise, I’ve somehow managed to tick off every single session my coach has set. This has meant some 5:45am starts to squeeze everything in during the school holidays, so I’m feeling pretty proud of that!

The running has added up to 350km (about 60km of those with the buggy), with eight full rest days. I haven’t made it to the pool at all, nor out on my bike, so this has been quality recovery. 😇

Highlights of the month included a triple-generation Parkrun with little SB (who’s 7) and my dad (who’s 66) and finishing in under 30 minutes! I was also lucky enough to have my better half ride his bike alongside me for the first hour of my longest run this week, which was a real treat.

In total I’ve bagged three runs of over 30km, which I really really loved. I had forgotten how satisfying a lovely long run can be.

The weather has been kinder and I’ve even run in shorts a few times this month. The evenings are getting lighter and spring is coming, yippee!

Roll on March… my favourite month of the year. 😍
