Marathon training

Day of excitement

RACE WEEKEND IS FINALLY HERE… the 2022 Marathon de Montpellier is this Sunday!

I’m so excited I can hardly sit still.

I still have some doubts (mostly about my knee, which has not felt good this week), but I’m giving myself a boost by looking back at ten awesome weeks of training.

I’ve run roughly 820km including these heady highlights:

⭐fabulous-but-tough long efforts along the canal

⭐over 220km of brilliant buggy running with my little buddy

⭐frosty family Parkrun with my little lad and my dad

⭐lots of sunny miles along the Garonne

⭐my big kids coming on their bikes

⭐a stroller PR at the Blagnac half marathon

Despite catching Covid, endless class closures and strikes at school and my husband jetting off to Australia for ten days(!), my training has gone amazingly well. A bit of juggling here and there, a few early starts and a lot of dedication and somehow every single session has been done in the end.

I’m feeling incredibly lucky to have had so much support… from my husband and children, family and friends, coach, team-mates… and you lot reading this! ❤️MERCI ❤️

What a privilege to get to line up for a big race; to have two functioning legs; to put my training to the test; to push myself as far as I can go; to see what I’m really made of.

No matter what happens on Sunday, it has been an absolute blast (well, mostly!) getting to this point and I have heaps of special moments to treasure.

My kit is ready and so am I… bring it on!
