Stroller marathon goals

I’m super excited to announce that I’m going to be running one final spring marathon… and this time, with the buggy!

My little DD is 100% on-board with the idea and we’ve found the perfect race: the Marathon de Poitiers-Futuroscope.

  • The organisers seem super friendly and they’ve responded with enthusiasm to my request to take part with the stroller.
  • The race takes place at the end of a long weekend (called a “pont” – or bridge – in France) when the kids will have four days off school.
  • The race starts in old Poitiers and finishes at the famous amusement park Futuroscope! Two free tickets to the park are included with the race entry fee.
  • We’ve booked a pirate-themed, family-friendly hotel right at the race finish line, that does early breakfast on race day.
  • There are 5k, 10k and kids’ races on the Saturday afternoon – so the entire family can run if they want to.
  • And, best of all, the event is on Mothers’ Day! What could be more perfect?

The route is not flat. 26.2 miles, as I have repeatedly been reminded recently, is a LONG way. 26.2 miles with a small child in tow is going to be a huge challenge.

But I am so SO excited! We have absolutely zero ambition in terms of finishing time. The goal is simply to have a fun day out together, cover the distance and cross that line! If we manage to complete a full marathon, it’ll be the cherry on the cake of our little buggy-running career together.

Keep an eye on this page for more updates on our preparations… one month to go!
